Arsenal hero Robert Pires has urged his former club to complete a deal for Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini.
According to reports, the Belgium international’s representatives are set to hold talks with Arsenal about a freebie move.
Fellaini is out of contract with Manchester United this summer and looks set to end his five-year association at Old Trafford.
The physical midfielder has struggled to become a hit with the fans at Old Trafford, but Pires has backed the Gunners to sign the 30 year-old.
Pires told Sky Sports: ‘Yeah, why not? Everybody knows Marouane Fellaini in the Premier League.
‘Of course last season it was very, very difficult, the relation with Jose Mourinho.
‘But I think he’s a good player, if he wants to join Arsenal I think it would be good news.
‘He needs a new start and I think, with his quality, I think he can help Unai Emery and he can help the Arsenal players in the squad.’
Arsenal have made just one signing so far this summer.
Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner has agreed to join on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract with the Italian giants.
Gooners, is Fellaini just what Arsenal need? Or will he be a liability? Let us know in the comments…
