Arsenal have all but failed to finish outside the top four for the third successive season after failing to beat Brighton at the Emirates.

The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw which has effecitvely given both Tottenham and Chelsea qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Only an eight goal swing against Spurs and the correct result will see Unai Emery’s side secure an unlikely top four spot.

Glen Murray cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener for the already safe Seagulls. Aside from occasional bursts, the north Londoners were shaky and sloppy, with Granit Xhaka committing an absurd foul on Solly March to concede the penalty that led to Murray’s equaliser on 61 minutes.

Realistically, the result means Emery’s side can only achieve Champions League football next year via a Europa League triumph.

Arsenal are currently 3-1 up over Valencia, with the second leg to come on Thursday night in Spain.
