Arsenal have qualified for the Europa League round of 16, but a 2-1 defeat to Ostersunds has done nothing to improve the subdued atmosphere around the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s side had effectively wrapped up the tie in the first leg thanks to a 3-0 win in Sweden.

Graham Potter’s side, who have risen from Sweden’s fourth tier since 2010, were on top in the first half and led 2-0 thanks to Calum Chambers’ own goal – deflecting in Hosam Aiesh’s shot – and Ken Sema’s clinical strike.

The visitors needed just one goal to level it all square, but Arsene Wenger’s half-time team talk paid dividends as Sead Kolasinac finished from Hector Bellerin’s cross to relieve the sense of dread inside Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal were complacent going forward and defensively and the qualification has done little to put them in good spirits ahead of Sunday’s crucial League Cup clash with Man City.
