Goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang gave Arsenal all three important points as the Gunners leapfrogged Manchester United in 4th in the Premier League.

The 2-0 win at the Emirates was welcomed following a disappointing Europa League defeat at Rennes in midweek.

Arsenal’s home form though has been supreme. And Unai Emery was rightly confident his side would bounce back to take their ninth straight victory at the Emirates.

The opener came thanks to a rare mistake from David De Gea. Granit Xhaka pulled the trigger from long range and appeared to catch the United ‘Keepeer off guard. The ball swerved and wrong footed De Gea to give the Gunners an early lead.

Arsenal stopper Bernd Leno produced a couple of good saves to keep Eemry’s side in front, before Aubameyang’s moment of redemption came from the penalty spot.

The Gabon striker was left crestfallen after missing his spot kick in the NLD last week. He stuck to his guns and stepped up to slot the ball past De Gea and give Arsenal a commanding lead.

It stayed 2-0. The Gunners are now just a point behind Spurs who are hanging on to 3rd.
