Arsenal put four past Vorskla Poltava in their Europa League opening match, but Unai Emery was left disappointed after watching his team concede two late on.

The Gunners have entered the competition as one of the leading teams to take the trophy home in May.

Emery, who had been tipped to start some of his young guns surprisingly fielded a strong XI. Piere-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sokratis all started at the Emirates, while £22.5m signing Bernd Leno made his debut.

Aubameyang scored twice at the Emirates

The Emirates was half full, but Aubameyang got the crowd going scoring either side of half-time – the first through a penalty and his second thrashing his shot past ‘keeper Bohdan Shust.

Danny Welbeck (48 mins) was also joined by Mesut Ozil (74 mins) on the Arsenal scoresheet.

The Ukranian minnows did grab a couple of consolation goals. Volodymyr Chesnakov and Vyacheslav Sharpar firing past Bernd Leno as Arsenal’s defence went missing.
