Arsenal and Manchester City are set to battle with Liverpool in the race to sign Schalke centre-back Malick Thiaw, according to reports.
The 18 year-old made his senior debut for the Bundelisga side earlier this season and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Liverpool have been keeping a watchful eye over Thiaw and are now planning a move.
But with a reported £7million release clause in Thiaw’s contract, Liverpool are braced to face serious competition.
Both Arsenal and Man City are keen on securing his signature, the Daily Mail reports.
Mikel Arteta is in the market to bolster his side.
The Gunners have so far endured a difficult season at the back, but do have William Saliba to join at the end of this season.
Negotiations between Thiaw and Schalke are currently on hold, which gives Arteta’s side the opportunity to make their move.
