Arsenal are set to miss out on the free transfer of Napoli star Dries Mertens this summer.

The Gunners as well as Chelsea and Manchester United are all reportedly interested in bringing the Belgium international to the Premier League, but Inter Milan have stolen a march on their rivals and look set to snap up the 32 year-old.

Mertens’ current deal with Napoli expires at the end of the season and according to Calciomercato, Inter are ready to offer him a bumper deal to move to the San Siro,

The report states CEO Beppe Marotta is proposing a £85,000-a-week contract for the Belgian international, with Antonio Conte looking to bolster his squad even further.

Napoli look set to miss out on Champions League qualification next season and currently lie nine points shy of fourth placed Atalanta.

Mertens has remained in fine form despite a difficult campaign in Naples, and is the club’s joint topscorer with 12 goals.
