Nicolas Pepe has completed his £72m club-record move to Arsenal.

Pepe joins from Ligue 1 side Lille, where the Ivorian scored 37 goals in 79 games.

The 24-year-old arrives in north London after helping his country to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

The forward is set to lead the front line with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette this season – a trio Arsenal fans have already nicknamed ‘PAL’ – Pepe, Auba Laca.

Pepe will be given the No 19 shirt at the Emirates as he sets about justifying his mammoth fee.

It is the same shirt number he wore for Lille last term where his 22 goals fired them to a second placed finish.

Unai Emery has made it clear Arsenal are still in the market before next Thursday’s deadline day.

The Gunners are still being linked with a move for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.

On Wednesday, though, Emery told the club’s official website just why they signed Pepe: “Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe.

“Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I’m delighted he’s joining.
