Everton really haven’t been able to shift out of second gear for the majority of the season and David Moyes side are desperate for points as they currently stand fourteenth in the table – a mere four points off the relegation zone. The Toffees have, traditionally, been one of the harder sides to line up against in the Premier League but they haven’t gotten a victory away to Arsenal in the better part of fifteen years- it’s clear that the bookmakers don’t expect that to change today either.

Despite losing Samir Nasri to injury in the Huddersfield match, we still come into the fixture with plenty of attacking options thanks to the fit-again Robin van Persie. Squillaci is out for this one thanks to his red card.

The Gunners go into the match as the slim 4/9 favourites with Everton trading at a lengthy 6/1 for what would be a much-needed three points.

Arsenal hold the recent distinction of not conceding a goal in the entire month of January- it’s a sign that the reign of Szczesny is well under way and a slightly deeper-lying midfield is making us a bit harder to play against.
The bookmakers have Arsenal to keep a clean sheet at evens, while Arsenal to win to nil pays out at 5/4. van Persie is, obviously, short-priced to score and you’ll find him trading at 8/13 for an anytime strike and a 3/1 listing to open or close the scoring. The Walcott could be set for a start and his 6/4 anytime price looks a decent shout. With Nasri out, Fabregas will be called up on a bit more to receive the ball and dictate play, so his 13/8 price looks a snip at the moment.

A penalty to be awarded and scored pays out at 2/1 and with the amount of spot kicks we’ve been given this year, coupled with Everton’s ability to completely blow it this season, it could wind up being the sharpest wager of the evening.
