Why Arsenal will secure a Champions League spot

Arsenal are the early pacesetters in the Premier League so far this season and we have reason to believe the Gunners will seal a Champions League spot this time around.

After a brilliant summer window, headlined by the arrival of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, many expected Arsenal to start the season on a strong note.

However, no one expected Mikel Arteta and company to be top of the League after four games. Arsenal narrowly missed out on a top-four spot last term and Roy Keane has predicted that the same will happen in the current campaign. We’re boldly going against that prediction and history is also on our side this time around.

GOOD OMEN: ARSENAL WIN FIRST FOUR GAMES OF THE SEASON

Arsenal’s comeback victory over Fulham at the weekend marked only the third time that the Gunners have won the first four games in a new Premier League campaign but, what happened on the other two occasions?

The last time a similar feat happened was the 2004/05 season, where Arsenal finished as runners-up behind title-winning Chelsea.

However, the very first time Arsenal won four games into a new campaign was the 2003/04 season. The rest is history as we went unbeaten in a campaign that is now famously dubbed as ‘The Invincibles’; a Premier League record which remains unmatched till date.

Now we’re not getting ahead of ourselves to say Arsenal will win the league this season but we’re quite confident that everything is in place to seal a top-four finish this time around.

ONLY ONE THING STANDS IN THE WAY

Only injuries stand in the way of Arsenal and a top-four finish and we can only hope we have better luck this time around.

As at the time of writing, Mohamed Elneny is now the latest to pick up a knock and Mikel Arteta will now be without Thomas Partey and the Egyptian in out next clash against Aston Villa.

That alone could force Arsenal to prioritize a midfield addition before the transfer deadline and we’ll just have to see what happens before deadline.

Regardless though, there is a positive feel that Champions League football will finally return to the Emirates after a five-year absence. We’ll return to this post in May to see if we got this ‘bold’ prediction right.
