Arsenal have begun making changes to the backroom staff ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Gunners hero Freddie Ljungberg has reportedly signed a new contract formalising his new role at the club with an announcement expected at the start of the week.

Ljungberg, who has progressed managing the under-23’s side is due to switch roles with current assistant coach Steve Bould.

Unai Emery will have Ljungberg as his right-hand-man, with the Swede expected to be a bridge for the under-23’s to integrate smoothly into the first-team.

The Evening Standard wrote that Arsenal are aware that their restricted summer transfer budget will mean the need to look at internal solutions to problem positions next season.

After a difficult start to last season Ljungberg steered the under-23’s to a second place finish and went unbeaten in 2019.

The club legend is seen as a valuable asset in helping the young players such as Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and u23 players of the year and Tyreece John-Jules progress.
