According to reports in Spain, Arsenal have tabled a bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim the Gunners have made an offer, with the forward, 29, open to the move.

Benzema has been linked with a move to The Emirates for a number of years, though an official bid has never materialised.

The Frenchman is suggested to have fallen out of favour with Real chief Florentio Perez, who is sanctioning the move.

Real Madrid are off the pace in the league and Benzema’s form has also taken a hit with only one goal in five La Liga appearances.

The striker who arrived at the Bernabeu in 2009 has endured his fair share of criticism in Spain. Yet Benzema’s record of 123 goals in 248 La Liga games speaks for itself.

It’s uncertain whether Arsene Wenger would utilise him as competition or as a partner to club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
