Arsenal have reportedly stood in the way of Danny Welbeck’s loan to Besiktas.

The England international has emerged as a target for the Turkish side who are in the market for a forward this month following the £27m sale of star man Cenk Tosun to Everton.

However, Arsenal are set to sell both Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez in the coming days which will leave them short up front.

And according to Turkish outlet Sporx, the Gunners were unwilling to do business with Besiktas because at least two of their first-team players are on their way out.

Welbeck has struggled for form this season, but could be a valuable asset as the Gunners take on the Europa League knock out stages.

Initial reports from Turkey suggested Besiktas attempted to sign the Englishman, with a proposal for a loan deal tabled.

Welbeck failed to impress in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday. The striker could be given a chance of redemption when the Gunners meet Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Saturday.
