Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed his confidence that Alexis Sanchez will sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium and reiterated once again that no sale would take place this summer.

The two-time Copa America winner is rapidly approaching the final 12 months of his current deal with the Gunners and has attracted a wealth of attention from across Europe and from Premier League rivals- including Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, Wenger has made it clear he won’t approve a sale to a fellow side in England’s top-flight and stated he’s confident of a positive resolution in contract talks ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Quoted by the BBC, Wenger said:

“I don’t think you would sell him to any Premier League club, that is for sure. ut as I have said, I think he will stay and sign a contract.”

The 28-year-old Chilean scored the winning goal in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday, his fourth goal at England’s national stadium for the Gunners, and will be important for the Premier League run-in.

Arsenal have a huge chance to put pressure on the sides ahead of them this evening, as victory over Leicester City would put the Gunners six points behind third-placed Liverpool with two games in hand, as well as four points behind Manchester City- who face Manchester United tomorrow.
