Arsenal Brazilian starlet shines for Bolton

One of the subplots for Arsenal this season has been the impressive form of several Arsenal youngsters on loan. As many as 12 loanees are currently making waves at their new club, and young Brazilian winger Wellington Silva is the latest in that trend.

After spending the last four seasons on loan to clubs in Spain, Silva joined Bolton this summer having finally been granted permission to play in England. He was in both the teams that drew Forest 1-1 and Blackburn 0-0 in league play, but really shone brightly yesterday in the club’s win over Motherwell in a testimonial match yesterday recording and assist and collecting the man of the match.

Bolton ran out 2-1 winners and Silva set up the game opener for former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey with a crafty cross from the right. Watch it down below.

It was of course a testimonial and far from competitive (in fact Motherwell’s goal was scored by veteran Kieth Lasley’s toddler son), but it showed a good glimpse of his capabilities and hopefully is just the start of a successful loan spell.

At the moment, Bolton sit second bottom in the Championship, having lost the first three matches of the season. Coincidentally, that was before Silva joined, and they remain unbeaten since his introduction in the side.
