Arsenal face a busy summer ahead but the Gunners have moved early to secure a significant new addition to their side, which is being widely reported by the continental press.

According to a variety of outlets, including ESPN, Arsenal have won the race to sign Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac and the 23-year-old Bosnian will arrive at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer at the beginning of July.

Kolasinac was considering offers from the Gunners and AC Milan, with Everton also holding an interest, but a club source has now indicated they’re confident Kolasinac will move to North London upon the expiration of his contract with the Bundesliga side.

A capable full-back that’s also able to play in a wing-back role, which would suit the current three-man defence adopted by the Gunners, Kolasinac is seen as the ideal long-term replacement for veteran Spanaird Nacho Monreal- but his arrival increases the likelihood of an exit for Kieran Gibbs.

Securing Kolasinac on a free transfers leaves funds available for Arsenal to strengthen in other areas, with a top-class striker being their priority for the summer.
