William Saliba is at the heart of a North London tug of war.

The Saint Etienne defender has been strongly linked with moves to both Arsenal and Tottenham this summer, but it is understood that Unai Emery’s side are in pole position to see him move to The Emirates.

Arsenal are suggested to be on the verge of wrapping up a £27million deal – but the young defender would be loaned back to France for a year.

Tottenham made a counter offer while Arsenal were in the air flying to the US tour but the Gunners have now come back with a restructured deal.

With Saliba set to remain in France for another season, Emery is likely to bring in another defender for 2019/20.

Shkodran Mustafi has been tipped for a move to Turkey, while Calum Chambers’ future remains unclear.

Laurent Koscielny is currently on strike after refusing to travel with the club for the pre-season tour of the United States.
