Arsenal have confirmed the departure of David Ospina to Napoli.

The goalkeeper has joined the Serie A side £3.5m.

After struggling to nail down the No 1 jersey under Arsene Wenger, Ospina spent the entirety of last season on loan in Naples.

The Colombian who arrived in 2014 from Nice, made 70 appearances in five years with the Gunners, winning two FA Cups.

Ospina diced with Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech for the No 1 spot, but failed to make the position his own.

Unai Emery’s arrival last summer appeared to be the beginning of the end, with the Gunners boss bringing in Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

And after a successful spell on loan under Carlo Ancelotti’s stewardship, the 30 year-old who made 17 league appearances in 2018/19 has agreed to cut ties with Arsenal.

We thank David for his efforts for the club and wish him the best of luck with his new side.
