Arsenal are keen on bolstering their defence this summer.

The club believe incoming boss Unai Emery is only a few players away from possessing a squad capable of fighting for prestigious honours next season.

The Europa League semi-finalists have spent heavily to improve their attacking ranks during the past 12 months, signing Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and will now shift their focus towards the defence.

It has been suggested Emery will only have a £50m transfer budget to improve his new side.

O Jogo (via Sports Mole) claim One player who could be moving to the Emirates is Porto’s Danilo Pereira.

The Portugal international’s reprsentative have reportedly been in touch with the club.

Danilo has been capped 27 times for Portugual, though will miss the World Cup in Russia following an achilles injury. Arsenal are concerned over his fitness, but despite the 26 year-old set to be sidelined for some time, the north Londoners are still keen on signing him.

Pereira’s defensive-minded approach to his midfield game could be exactly what Arsenal have been crying out for in recent seasons.
