Arsenal’s summer transfer window certainly delivered in regards to signings, with the Gunners topping the tree in the Premier League spending just shy of £150million, splashing the sort of cash that only lottery winners who bought their football clubs could dream of.

This summer was crucial for the North London club, with them attempting to rebuild their squad after a tough time of it last season – and they have made a promising start to doing so.

New additions such as Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Nuno Tavares will hopefully start to form a new look Arsenal squad over the coming years.

However, one position that seems to be lacking for the Gunners right now is upfront, with them failing to score after their first three games this season – conceding nine goals along the way.

It had recently been reported that the club were on the lookout for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with the 32-year-old heading towards the latter stages of his career.

Not only that, but the strikers form these past few seasons has been a world-away from the player that first joined Arsenal back in 2018.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal director Edu was pushing to sign outbound Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer, before losing out to Jose Mourinho and AS Roma.

Chelsea offloaded the English striker this summer following their signing of Romelu Lukaku – and according to Romano, Arsenal were very interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Unluckily for the Gunners, they missed out on Abraham with him joining AS Roma for £36million, leading to another missed opportunity for the club.

The worst part of it all, is that the striker has gotten off to a great start to life in Rome, with him producing some fantastic performances with 1 goal and 2 assists from his first two games in the Serie A.

There is obviously no telling if Abraham would have had as positive a start for Arsenal, but it shows that the club are struggling to get their main targets over the line.

A new forward is definitely needed, especially someone at the right age to be a part of the club’s rebuild and to be here for years to come. Hopefully, the club will be able to find the right player in the next few transfer windows.
