Arsenal face a tough test to progress to the quarter-final stages of the Europa League after being drawn with AC Milan in the last 16.

The Gunners beat Ostersunds 4-2 on aggregate but came close to giving up the three-goal advantage they had built during Thursday’s second leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Milan, who are seventh in Serie A, beat Bulgarian club Ludogorets Razgrad 4-0 on aggregate in the previous round.

With both sides struggling in domestically, qualification to the Champions League  via the Europa League appears to be their best bet of a return to pinnacle of club football.

Milan are now coached by former Rangers midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, who was named as manager in November after Vincenzo Montella was sacked.

Arsene Wenger’s side will travel to the San Siro on March 8, before entertaining the Italian giants at the Emirates on March 15.
