Arsenal are seeking to improve their defensive line this summer and could have a major task of finding a replacement on their hands if Hector Bellerin is prized away from North London.

Catalan giants Barcelona continue to eye a move for the former La Masia ace and see the Spaniard as the ideal long-term solution to their right-back woes, having failed to properly replace Dani Alves last summer following the Brazilian’s move to Juventus.

Arsenal are determined not to lose Bellerin although it appears they have a plan in place should they be unsuccessful in their attempts to keep the Spanish U21 international, as Don Balon states the Gunners are interested in Real Madrid’s Danilo.

Brazilian defender Danilo has thus far failed to justify the €31.5m price-tag his move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Porto commanded in 2015 and the South American is keen to force his way out this summer.

The 25-year-old could be available for around €20m this summer (around £17m) and Arsenal would be prepared to multiply their offer if they were also able to secure the services of long-term target Karim Benzema, Don Balon adds.

Whilst Arsenal would have previously fought tooth and nail to keep Bellerin, the Spaniard has come under criticism for poor performances this season and lost his first-team spot to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recently, who excelled at wing-back prior to his injury.

If Barcelona were to offer a sizeable fee for Bellerin, Arsenal may consider it and Danilo would be a capable replacement.
