According to reports, Arsenal want to bring Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey to the Emirates.

The 25 year-old has one goal and one assist to his name so far this season.

Partey will be growing frustrated at Atletico having averaged just 42 minutes per game this season and Diego Simeone is said to be on the look-out for a replacement.

It’s effectively given Gunners boss Unai Emery, who is said to be a keen admirer of Partey, the green light to make a move on the player in the January window.

Having watched him during his three years in charge at Sevilla, Emery will be fully aware of the defensive midfielder’s outstanding tackling and interception abilities.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, signing the Ghanaian will be no easy feat, with Paris Saint-Germain – Emery’s former club – also reported to be interested in the 25-year-old, who has a £70million release clause in his contract.
