Arsenal will not have it all their own way in turning to Chris Smalling to bolster their defence.

The Manchester United centre-half currently on loan at Roma is having a storming resurgence in Serie A.

Smalling’s spell in Rome has seen his stock rise and it is now believed Juventus and Inter Milan are keen on signing the England international.

Roma are of course also keen to make his loan deal permanent with the 30 year-old proving to be a rock at the back.

Roma have reportedly tabled a bid of £13million for Smalling.

United, though, are holding out for £17million for a player who has made over 300 appearances for the club.

As for Juventus, the Italian champions are linked with letting defenders Daniele Rugani and Merih Demiral go, which could create a fresh demand for experienced back-ups such as Smalling.
