Arsenal have dropped to 6th in the Premier League following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat away to Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger criticised the standard of refereeing, feeling that Raheem Sterling dived for the penalty that gave the hosts their second goal and that the third should have been ruled offside.

Despite the contentious decision-making, it should not deter from the fact that Arsenal were second best throughout the afternoon.

Wenger, who left out top scorer Alexander Lacazette also opted to deploy Francis Coquelin at the heart of the defence.

In away league matches against the rest of the ‘big six’ since the start of the 2014-15 season, The Gunners have won just once (a 2-0 win at City in January 2015), losing 10 and drawing seven.

Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates after the international break. Despite being at home, it’s a fixture in which Gooners are fearing the worst.
