Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that neither Harry Kane or Toby Alderweireld will be in his starting XI for the clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
The Argentine boss confirmed, however, that the England striker could be available for the North London derby, but not from the start.
Speaking ahead of the game, the former Southampton boss said:
“No, maybe Harry Kane will be available but it’s difficult to play him from the start.”
Last season’s top goalscorer, who has been injured since September when he was stretchered off against Sunderland, has returned to full training ahead of the game.
Alderweireld seems more of a doubt than Kane, having picked up a knee injury in the late draw with West Brom last month. When asked whether or not his Belgian centre-half would be involved, Pochettino was quite plain; “No. It is difficult.”
Spurs come to The Emirates as the only unbeaten side remaining in the Premier League, although they have suffered a dip in form, having drawn their last three league games and losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday.
