Arsenal face a battle to keep their big names at the Emirates Stadium this summer following the Gunners’ failure to qualify for the Champions League but the North London side are confident of a major deal.

The Sun states Arsenal have made a huge breakthrough in negotiations with Mesut Ozil, who has 12 months remaining on his current deal, with the German World Cup winner set to reduce his wage demands to £280k-a-week.

28-year-old Ozil is currently on-tour with the Gunners in China and negotiations have been ongoing, with Ozil set to reduce his demands down from £350k-a-week and earn himself a £40k raise on his current deal.

That figure will make the German ace the highest earner in North London and fans will hope for more consistency from the former Real Madrid man as a result, with many believing the addition of Alexandre Lacazette will get the best out of their fan-favourite.

Arsenal will hope this positive breakthrough provides the catalyst for positive talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez, both of whom have also entered the final 12 months of their current deal.
