Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Atletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The 23 year-old has been impressive this season and has drawn attention from a host of clubs across Europe, including La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Arizzabalaga has established himself as Bilbao’s starting goalkeeper this term and has made 11 appearances in the Spanish top flight so far.

The Gunners have been linked with some goalkeepers recently, with Petr Cech now well into his thirties. Meanwhile the departure of Wojciech Szczesny and uncertain futures of David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez means signing a ‘keeper could be imperative next summer.

Arsene Wenger’s side fact tough competition, with Real Madrid also eyeing the shot-stopper.

Spanish outlet Marca claimed on Tuesday that the Champions League holders will look to trigger his €20million release clause in the upcoming window.

 It’s a move that could force Arsenal’s hand in their bid to sign the promising Spain international.
