Arsenal have announced a new five-year extension to their shirt sponsorship deal with airline Emirates.

The deal will run until 2023/24 and at over £200million, it is the largest sponsorship deal in history.

The pair’s longstanding partnership will outstretch 18 years by the end of the newly-signed deal.

The airline based in Dubai is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is wholly owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai.

Arsenal fans will be hoping the substantial payment will see the hierarchy continue to make sizeable investment in future personnel. The Gunners have smashed their transfer records in the previous two transfer windows to recruit Alexandre Lacazette (47m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (55.4m).

As reported by the Standard, Chief executive Ivan Gazidis praised a “significantly” improved partnership which continues the stability and long-standing relationship between the two entities.

“Our shirt partnership is the longest running in the Premier League and one of the longest relationships in world sport,” Gazidis said.

“Emirates are again demonstrating their great belief in our approach and ambition and their significantly increased investment will help us continue to compete for trophies and bring more success to the club and our fans around the world.”
