Arsenal have jumped ahead of Tottenham in the battle between the two North London clubs to sign a Barcelona player believed to be exiting in the summer, according to a report.

How the two teams will look after the summer is anyone’s guess. Fans will be biting their nails each time a transfer rumour makes the news. Not only will the uncertainty affect their team’s chances, but it will impact how betting fans will act when it comes to wagering on how Premiership teams will perform this season. There’s always other sports to bet on in the meantime, or slots action online, as this article describes. But how about the Gunners and those exiting Barca stars?

Barca Fire Sale

Barcelona’a financial woes have resulted in plenty of high-paid stars being made available in the summer. Among the first-teamers rumoured to be leaving the club are Miralem Pjanic, Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, and Antoine Griezmann.

Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested in Coutinho, with Spurs being linked with Pjanic. A recent report, however, revealed both clubs would like to sign goalkeeper Neto. The veteran signed for Valencia for €26m in 2019. Predictably, he’s been given limited opportunities to start, thanks to the presence of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

So to help boost his chances of securing a place in the World Cup, all parties seem to have accepted that a parting of the ways is on the cards. Now HITC has let it be known that Arsenal are the most likely club to sign the player. The reason for that is that the agents for the keeper believe Arsenal to be his “most viable option”.

Bad Move, Arsenal

Allowing Emiliano Martinez to move to Aston Villa is already looking like a mistake after just one season. Runarsson has yet to show he’s up to the job in limited opportunities when Bernd Leno was out, resulting in the drafting of Mat Ryan on a short-term loan.

The Australian keeper returned to Brighton before signing with Real Sociedad. So there’s a great need for Arteta to have a reliable backup. The article also said that Neto would like to move to England, and that Arsenal want to make his wish a reality.

Questions Over Ben White Rumour

Meanwhile, questions have been asked of Brighton’s Ben White over his move to Arsenal after Danny Mills joked he hasn’t gone there to win trophies. News broke of the two parties agreeing to a deal to bring the 23-year-old centre half to the Emirates. The prospective move drew the reaction from Mills that won’t please Gunners fans.

Midfield Makeover

It looks like the midfield will undergo a makeover in the summer. The first player to move was Matteo Guendouzi after he was loaned out to Marseille. Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira have been linked heavily with moves to Italy. There’s yet to be a decision over what to do with Joe Willcock.

The loan spells of Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos have left the squad short. As such, there’s expected to be plenty of midfield ammunition on its way. For starters, Arsenal recently announced they’ve bought 21-year-old Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht.

The Belgian will be trying to win a spot in the central midfield, although he did mention that he can play a variety of positions. He can certainly play the role of holding midfielder, but then he may be called on to do more than that, as there’s news of a third bid from Roma for Granit Xhaka. Personal terms between the two parties have been agreed for some time, with the fee for his signature being the sticking point.
