Arsenal hero David Seaman has told Bernd Leno to be patient as he continues to await his first appearance for the club.

Leno arrived for £22.5m this summer from Bayer Leverkusen and had been tipped to replace Petr Cech for the No. 1 spot.

However, the Germany shot-stopper has sat out in every game so far. Seaman, who made more than 400 league appearances for the Gunners, has urged Leno to keep calm.

‘He has to be patient. Petr Cech has done nothing wrong in goal,’ said the Englishman.

‘Ok, so he is adjusting to playing with the ball from the box. But he has been able to contribute to the team and has done nothing to cause him to be left out.’

Seaman believes a spell in a more observational role will benefit Leno as he watches at first hand the demands of the Premier League.

‘This could be a learning curve for him. You have to be patient in football… I know. I had to be in the past when I was playing. Leno has to bide his time.’

Cech is still yet to keep a clean sheet this season. The veteran will be keen to brake that duct when the Gunners take on Newcastle this weekend.
