Here’s a round up of transfer gossip doing the rounds today.
French goalkeeper Sebastien Frey is being linked with a summer move to Highbury. Frey’s agent, Vincenzo Morabito, has been talking up a possible move ‘due to problems with Lehmann.’
“At this moment, the most credible solution is Arsenal who, for some time, want the French keeper due to problems with (Jens) Lehmann,” Morabito stated.
Also linked with a transfer to London is France Under-21 international Habib Bamogo. Bamogo is considered hot property in France after banging in 12 goals in 29 starts for French side Montpellier. Barcelona have also shown an apparent interest in the player.
“Arsenal is following Bamogo,” said Montpellier chairman Laurent Nicollin. “Wenger likes the player.”
“The Gunners have seen him several times. Like Barca, whose coach Rijkaard couldn’t resist Habib. I don’t lie.”
“I won’t name the other great European clubs that are attracted to him.”
“Habib is under contract with us until June 2006 and I can assure you he won’t leave for nothing.”
“The club which really wants to sign him will have to pay €6 million. But we can always negotiate. Barca and Arsenal have not proposed anything yet.”
After splashing out on Jose Reyes in January, it is still unclear as to whether Arsene will be looking to strengthen the squad further. However, you can still expect to see Arsenal linked with a host of players as the end of the season approaches.
