A lack of available transfer funds meant Arsenal missed out on the chance to bring Adrien Rabiot to the Emirates. However, the Paris Saint-Germain star’s agent, who happens to be his mother, has revealed that the midfielder is still on the market.

Barcelona looked set to sign Rabiot in the January, but nothing materialised. And now following his unresolved saga from the winter window, the relations between himself and the Ligue 1 giants have stooped to an all-time low.

The midfielder’s contract will expire at the end of the season, where he will free to move on from Paris.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are all rumoured to be interested, while Tottenham also seem to think they have a chance of securing his signature.

Barca were thought to be clear favourites, however, his mother, Veronique, denied those rumours.

‘Everyone says that we have already signed with a club,’ she told L’Equipe (via Metro Sport). ‘But we did not sign anywhere!

Rabiot has not featured since the end of 2018

‘We really did not have the opportunity to worry about it. At the end of last year, I said that I would not speak with any club before January 1st.

‘I have been out of this world for over two months, with all our misfortunes. There are priorities in life. They were elsewhere for us.’

In an explosive interview with the French paper, Rabiot’s mother claims her son is a ‘prisoner’ and a ‘hostage’ at the Parc des Princes.

She fumed: ‘Adrien is a prisoner. He’s even a hostage to PSG. Soon it’s dry bread, water and dungeon! This environment is cruel…

‘A footballer is made to play, not to stay in the closet. Adrien has not played since December, and probably until June.

‘Brought back to a professional career, six months is huge! He is taken hostage because he does not want to re-sign while he is only respecting his contract. Adrien asks only that: to respect his contract.’
