Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has a theory about Arsenal’s transfer business amid rumours Aaron Ramsey is closing in on a move to Juventus.

The Gunners have allowed the Welshman’s contract to run down to within six months of expiration. It would see Ramsey leave for free this summer should he stick it out until the end of the season.

And Bridge has likened the situation of Ramsey to that of Jack Wilshere, who left when his contract expired last summer.

The Englishman was effectively ushered out the door by Unai Emery and join West Ham in the following weeks. However, the Gunners worked quickly to replace the 27 year-old by signing tough tackling midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Bridge anticipates the north Londoners to already have a replacement lined up for when Ramsey eventually leaves the club.

“We don’t know why they haven’t tried to keep him,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast (via Express).

“Last summer, a lot of fans wanted Jack Wilshere to re-sign but it was not going to happen.

“Then, all of a sudden, they sign Lucas Torreira who, for me, has been Arsenal’s best player this season. He’s been a fantastic signing.

“You’d hope as an Arsenal fan that they do have a replacement in mind.

“Emery must have an absolute load of players on his wish-list and maybe he’s got a player in mind he could bring in in January, or even next summer, to replace Ramsey.”

After seeing a new contract withdrawn by Arsenal, Ramsey has been touted for a move to Juventus in the summer.
