Arsenal have failed with their opening bid to sign AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez as Unai Emery looks to push through a last minute deal.

That’s according to reports in Italy (via the Metro). They claim that the Gunners did not submit a worthy offer for Rodriguez, who is valued at around £30m by Milan.

The 25 year-old arrived from Wolfsburg last summer and made 47 appearances for Milan last season.

The Italian outfit appear determined to hang on to the full-back this summer.

Arsenal have dramatically bolstered their squad this summer with no less than five additions and £70m spent.

Goalkeeper Bernd Leno, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, centre-back Sokratis and midfield pair Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira have all arrived since Unai Emery took over in June.

However, it doesn’t appear the Spaniard will be adding Ricardo Rodriguez to the list of new members.

Gooners, do we need another player in? Let us know in the comments…
