According to reports, Arsenal have earmarked Dayot Upamecano as the man to replace Laurent Koscielny.
Koscielny is having a medical on Tuesday ahead of his move to Bordeaux.
The 33 year-old defender will leave Arsenal for £4.6m after nine years as a Gunner.
It means Arsenal are now considering a late move for RB Leipzig starlet Upamecano as Unai Emery looks to fix his leaky back-line – but are put off by his huge £50million price-tag.
According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners are keen on bringing Upamecano in but are unwilling to fork out £50m for the defender just days after completing a club-record deal for Nicolas Pepe.
If a fee cannot be agreed, Arsenal have also retained interest in Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, who continues to be overlooked for Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chellini.
The Gunners have already signed William Saliba from St-Etienne, although they 18 year-old has been loaned back to the Ligue 1 club for the 2019-20 campaign.
