Brazilian winger Willian says he is unlikely to renew his deal with Chelsea after contract negotiations broke down.

The 31 year-old has current deal expires on June 30 and he is set to be a free agent this summer.

Willian has been at Chelsea for seven years, winning two Premier League titles and also lifting the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. That’s the kind of success rate that William Hill new customers would be proud of, but Willian often doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

He’s usually given favourable odds by bookies to be the first goalscorer to to score anytime and it’s rare that you’ll find him in many fantasy football teams.

Chelsea rejected a series of bids from Barcelona for the winger who has always had a desire to remain in London.

Willian passed a British citizenship test, at the third attempt, and can now become a citizen of his adopted country.

Willian has spent seven years at Stamford Bridge

The Brazil international was previously revealed to be holding out for a three-year extension with Chelsea, but he has revealed the club did not share the same view.

Speaking to Fox Sports show Expediente Futebol (via The Sun), Willian said: “I’ve built something fantastic at Chelsea.

“I’m especially fond of the fans and the people that work there, and I’ve felt very settled.

“Everyone knows my contract is up in a few months and it looks like it’ll be difficult to secure an extension. I think it’s unlikely that I’ll renew because Chelsea offered me a two-year deal, I asked for three and it ended there.

“There were no more talks or negotiations. Chelsea said that three years would be impossible, so at the moment it seems unlikely that I’ll extend, but nothing is impossible.

“We don’t know what might happen. We might suddenly reach an agreement, but what I can say today is that my contract is up and I’ll be free to negotiate with any club.”

Could Willian’s next destination be the Emirates?

Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus have all been tipped with making a move for the Brazilian with five goals and five assists in 2019/20.

Speaking on new opportunities, Willian said:

“There’s been plenty of speculation in recent months, but there’s not been anything concrete.”

“The last negotiations that I had were with Chelsea. The only offer for me from Barcelona was in 2018 after the World Cup. Chelsea didn’t accept that year as they didn’t want to sell me.
