Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop for Barcelona outcast Arda Turan as they see the Turkish international as the ideal replacement for Mesut Ozil, The Times reports.

Ozil looks increasingly likely to leave as negotiations regarding a new deal for the World Cup winner have stalled and the former Real Madrid man has just over a year remaining on his current contract, which could lead to a sale taking place this summer.

Arsenal are aware they need a major restructure to compete next season and they have money to spend, which has seen them eye a £25m swoop for 30-year-old Barcelona man Arda Turan.

Turan, who signed for the Catalan giants two years ago, has struggled to earn regular first-team football at the Nou Camp and may now be seen as surplus to requirements- especially as Luis Enrique will step down this summer, presenting the opportunity for a rebuild.

Should Ozil leave, Arsenal need a top-class attacking midfielder to replace him in the starting line-up and the Gunners are keen on Turan, although Barcelona will want to recoup the majority of the £26m they paid Atletico Madrid for his services in 2015.
