Arsenal are ‘monitoring’ the situation at Juventus concerning Merih Demiral ahead of potential January swoop after Turkey international was frozen out by manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 21-year-old Turkey centre-back has only played one game for the Turin giants since his £16m summer switch from fellow Serie A outfit Sassuolo.

Despite not playing for Juve, Demiral has been a mainstay of Turkey’s bid to reach the Euro 2020 finals, appearing four times for the national side this season, helping them to three wins and a draw in France.

And, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, both Arsenal and Spanish club Atletico Madrid are monitoring the situation with Demiral ahead of a potential January bid.

Juve want to make a profit on the player if they’re to let him leave just six months after arriving and their price tag of £34m has already deterred rivals AC Milan.

The Gunners have struggled to keep the ball out of the net so far this season having conceded 17 times in 12 matches with a negative goal difference.

Unai Emery must address his side’s defensive frailties if the club are to claw back the eight-point deficit and finish in the top four.
