Arsenal achieved a Premier League milestone on Sunday by virtue of the win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

THE LOWDOWN: CLASSY ARSENAL

Mikel Arteta’s side were at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon for a game to test their title credentials. The Gunners were not unfazed at all as they ended up winning more comfortably than the scoreline suggested.

The press and counter-attacks were superb and they should have scored more than the only goal by Gabriel Magalhaes to inflict more damage on the Chelsea team.

The win helped the North London outfit return to the summit of the Premier League after Manchester City’s late victory over Fulham at the weekend.

THE LATEST: NEW RECORD

By virtue of Sunday’s win, Arsenal became the first team to win ten Premier League games away at Chelsea’s ground Stamford Bridge.

It is also the side’s third consecutive win at the Bridge after last season’s 4-2 success and the 1-0 win in the previous campaign.

For many years, Arsenal’s trips to Stamford Bridge have not been fruitful, especially in the days of Didier Drogba. In recent times though, it now seems the north London side has the upper hand over the team from west London.

The win on Sunday helped Arsenal maintain their two-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League standings.

THE VERDICT: REMARKABLE RECORD

Chelsea’s ground is one of the most challenging places for Arsenal to play. Since the arrival of Mikel Arteta, that seems to have changed and it has come at a very telling time for the Gunners. Besides the win at the Bridge, the all-round performances shown so far this term have been incredible.

The win on Sunday further confirmed Arsenal’s mental readiness for big games like this.
