Arsenal have received a boost in the transfer market following news that one of their top-targets is seeking an exit from his current employers this summer.
The Daily Mirror states Arsenal are ready to make a move for Lyon’s 22-year-old French midfielder Corentin Tolisso, who is ready to quit the Ligue 1 side this summer as he seeks to bolster his chances of making Didier Deschamp’s squad for next summer’s World Cup.
Arsenal are long-term admirers of Tolisso and are seeking his signature amidst a flurry of activity this summer, although Lyon are likely to command a figure in excess of £30m for their highly-rated youngster.
The Gunners have money to spend this summer though and could see an increase in their transfer kitty with sales from the first-team squad, with David Ospina set to leave and the likes of Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Nacho Monreal, Lucas Perez, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil all linked with an exit.
Tolisso is capable of playing in a defensive role in the midfield, which would see the French ace establish himself as the ideal midfield partner to Granit Xhaka- which in turn would allow Aaron Ramsey to occupy a more attacking role, which suits the Welshman’s style.
With eight goals and four assists in Ligue 1 this season, Tolisso is capable of being an attacking threat of his own and a deep-lying role in Arsenal’s side could see the youngster stand as the ideal long-term replacement for the ageing Santi Cazorla.
