According to reports, Arsenal have decided to pull out of the battle with Tottenham to sign Atletico Madrid star Thomas Lemar due to a lack of transfer funds.
Mikel Arteta’s side were expected to relaunch a move for the 24-year-old’s signature this month.
But according to Goal, the Gunners are no longer interested in signing the out-of-favour French winger, 24, who they attempted to sign in 2017.
Boss Arteta looks to have his attention on signing a centre-back this winter and does not view Lemar as a priority.
Meanwhile, the club have not allocated the funds to the Spaniard to meet Atletico’s £50million valuation.
Lemar joined Atletico in a £52.7m deal in the summer of 2018 but has made little impression during his 18 months at the club.
Tottenham are now in line to sign the Frenchman, but The Independent reports Sp*rs will face competition from a host of European clubs.
