Arsenal have put contract talks with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez on-hold until the end of the season, Sky Sports reports.

The world-class pairing are heading into the final 12 months of their contracts and there is growing concern that the pair could leave this summer, with a wealth of top-class clubs looking to take advantage of their contract situation.

Arsenal are keen to keep both Ozil and Alexis at the Emirates Stadium but their chances have been handed a blow with the latest developments, as it’s stated the Gunners will not negotiate a new deal with either star until the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger’s own future could also have a huge effect, as he’s just months away from the expiration of his deal, and the Gunners need a huge improvement after the international break having suffered a woeful six defeats in the last nine matches across all competitions.

Arsenal have slipped down to sixth position in the Premier League, only ahead of Everton on goal difference, but still have fate in their own hands as they have two games in hand- as well as facing top-four rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the final two months of the campaign.

Will either of these players stay at Arsenal? Join our forum and have your say with fellow fans!
