Arsenal are reportedly ready to do all they can to snap up Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in January.

THE LOWDOWN: RECENT TARGET

Arsenal have been trying to stay active in the transfer window in order to build on the successes recorded in the summer and multiple targets have been linked with a move to the Emirates.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the Gunners will be linked with the highly rated Milinkovic-Savic. But with Mikel Arteta’s side looking for reinforcements in midfield, they have turned their attentions to the Serbian.

Now, it seems the Gunners want to take a step further in their pursuit of the Lazio star.

THE LATEST: NEW MOTIVE

Arsenal are keen on going all in for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in January, according to Corriere della Serra.

The Gunners blazed through the first half of the Premier League and they are currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Despite the decent lead, the defending champions are considered to be favourites to win the league by many and the Gunners are looking at getting reinforcements to ‘keep up’ with the Cityzens.

According to the report, the 27-year-old, who has turned down deals to leave Serie A on numerous occasions before, could consider an offer from Arsenal amid their impressive progress in the league this season.

Meanwhile, the Gunners will have to contend with Juventus for the signing of the Serbian star.

THE VERDICT: INDIFFERENT

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is one of the top midfielders in the Serie A and has enjoyed a top season with Lazio this term, registering five goals and seven assists from 20 appearances.

The midfielder looks suited for the Premier League and has the numbers to thrive. He is currently valued at €60 million by Transfermarkt, but Lazio president Claudio Lolito has been adamant that Milinkovic-Savic won’t leave for less than €100m.

Milinkovic-Savic will step into the final 18 months of his deal in January and the Gunners will need a massive bid to make Lolito change his stance and let go of the club’s prized asset.

On the flip side, as per his age, Arsenal might decide to look for someone younger and quite cheap.
