Arsenal have rejected a £20 million offer from Chelsea for Olivier Giroud.

That’s according to Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague who claims further negotiations are expected.

Giroud has emerged as target of Antonio Conte’s side this month with the Blues boss seeking a powerful striker up front.

The Frenchman, who has netted seven times for Arsenal this term has found himself down the pecking order at the Emirates.

Despite having 18 months left on his current deal, Giroud looks set on calling time on his five-and-a-half year stint at the Emirates.

Balague Tweeted at 11pm on Monday night claiming that Chelsea’s £20m bid had been rejected by Arsenal.

He wrote: “I read Giroud could go to Chelsea for £15m but I believe #CFC last offer was £20m and was rejected by #AFC.

“No negotiations took place after that rejection.

“But tomorrow contacts could be renewed.”

A report from Sportune (via the Star) in France claimed the striker took a £10,000-per-week pay cut when he signed the new deal.
