Arsenal have already made headlines this summer after parting with a club-record fee to bring Alexandre Lacazette in from Lyon but that deal will look like pennies compared to what the Gunners are hoping to achieve.

Arsene Wenger’s side are one of numerous European giants interested in landing the services of Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe and The Daily Mirror states the Gunners are ‘still hopeful’ of securing a deal, despite suggestions that Real Madrid have made an approach.

Monaco swiftly denied rumours yesterday that Zinedine Zidane’s side have made an audacious £160m bid for the 18-year-old attacker but it gives a perspective as to what sort of figure Arsenal will have to pay for the player’s services.

Battling with Real Madrid in the transfer market will certainly not be easy but French outlet L’Equipe states Mbappe has built quite a rapport with Arsenal boss Wenger, which gives the Gunners a chance of securing a deal.

It’s also stated that Arsenal do have the financial capability of battling the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City in the transfer market but the fact that the Gunners will not be able to offer Champions League football this season is a big issue.
