According to reports, Arsenal sent scouts to run the ruling overĀ Oguzhan Ozyakup – but the midfielder did not play for Besiktas against Bayern Munich.
The Turkey international has been linked with a return to the Emirates having failed to establish himself in the first-team during his first stint.
Ozyaup won the FA Youth Cup in 2009 while playing alongside current Arsenal star Jack Wilshere in midfield, but quit the club for Besiktas in 2012.
The 25 year-old has since established himself as one of the leading midfielder’s in Turkish football and it’s prompted Arsenal to consider resigning him.
He has just four months to run on his current deal and could be snapped up for free this summer.
Ozyakup was adjudged to be surplus to requirements for Besiktas’ Champions League first-leg with Bayern – a match they were thrashed 5-0.
Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller each bagged a brace to all but send the Germans into the Champions League quarter-finals.
