Arsenal have secured a £260m loan, using the income of future match tickets revenue as a guarantee.

The income from this loan will help pay off the debt accrued by the Emirates Stadium project.

It [the bond-secure loan deal] is the first of its kind in Europe.

The risk with a security deal of this kind is that should Arsenal suffer a drop in attendances at its new stadium, the value of the bonds would be affected.

However, Arsenal had their worst finish ever under manager Arsène Wenger last season and matches were still sold-out at Highbury, though the old stadium was significantly smaller than the Emirates.

The new Emirates Stadium holds 60,000 as opposed to 38,500 at Highbury.

Season tickets prices at Arsenal range from £885 to £1,825, with corporate tickets costing significantly more.
