Arsenal fans crying out for top-class signings this summer could see their wishes become a reality, with widespread reports indicating a major signing is on the way.

The Evening Standard quotes Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas as revealing a move taking star-striker Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal could be completed in the next 48 hours, following intense negotiations, and added:

“The transfer [fee] will be between €45million and €50m. Being close to €50m is unique, and will probably be a record for Arsenal and Olympique Lyonnais as well. We will probably reach a new record, it’s not a small transfer, €50m for a player trained by our club.”

That figure is a lot lower than Lyon’s previous demands, said to be around £57m, but it would narrowly see Arsenal break the transfer record they set in 2013 following the capture of Mesut Ozil- who cost £42.5m from Real Madrid.

Lacazette is widely reported to be on his way to London over the coming days to complete a medical and paperwork ahead of a move that will see the Gunners finally boast the world-class striker they’ve been crying out for.

The 26-year-old has secured a remarkable record of 113 goals in 183 appearances for Lyon across all competitions, having worked his way into the first-team from the youth ranks.
