Liverpool are in pole position to sign Thomas Lemar this summer.

The Monaco winger has been a longterm target for Arsene Wenger’s side who failed with a £92m last August.

The Express say the Reds are the bookies favourite to snap up the Frenchman, eyeing him as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho who left in January.

Lemar, who impressed when helping Monaco to the Champions League semi-finals last season, is tied to the club until June 2020 and would cost around the £92m fee that Arsenal were turned down last summer.

Speaking at the weekend, he told French television show Telefoot: “I’m not going to hide it, I was a little disappointed.

“I try not to think about it.

“I’ve kept working so that these clubs come back during the next transfer window.”

Lemar has seen Arsenal’s problems mount this season and may be more inclined to joining Jurgen Klopp’s side.

A deal may hinge on whether Arsenal can win the Europa League and return to Champions League football at the first time of asking.
